Updates to the Login Process

Many of you may have already noticed our brand-spankin’ new login screen that now allows you to access your account with a username and password. Though you can still connect to ShortStack through the “Login with Facebook” button, the new username and password sign-in now gives you two ways to login, making it easy for you and your co-workers to manage your ShortStack accounts.

UsernameLogin

Existing Users – Users who are currently signing in using the “Login with Facebook” button can continue to do so. Interested in adding a username and password? Just sign in to ShortStack with the “Login with Facebook” button, hover over your name in the top right hand side of the page and click “Preferences” from the dropdown menu. Here, you can choose a username and password to associate with your account, click “Save”, and you’re all set!

New Users – If you chose the username and password route when signing up for ShortStack, you can link your ShortStack account to a single Facebook account, which will allow you to sign-in to ShortStack using Facebook credentials. This is optional. If you would like to connect accounts, all you need to do is sign into ShortStack using your username and password. Next, hover over your name in the top right hand side of the page and click “Preferences” from the dropdown menu. On the Preferences page, click on the “Connect with Facebook” button. A pop-up will appear, and you will be prompted to enter the Facebook email and password for the Facebook account you’d like to link to ShortStack. Click “Save”, and you’re done! Now you can just click on the “Connect with Facebook” button when you’d like to sign into ShortStack.

Notes for ALL users – There are a few things that everyone signing-in with a username and password should know.

  • When you sign into ShortStack using a username and password, you will be prompted to Connect with Facebook only when you need to install a tab to a Facebook Page.
  • When installing a tab, you can use any Facebook account you wish — it doesn’t have to be the same account you used for signing into ShortStack.
  • Any Facebook user using your account needs to be an admin of the Facebook Page to install ShortStack tabs to it
  • Any user with access to a particular ShortStack account can choose to link their Facebook account to that ShortStack account (if not already linked to another ShortStack account), thus disconnecting the old Facebook account.
  • You can now create multiple ShortStack accounts since they no longer require a unique Facebook account tie-in.

Unlinking your Facebook Account - If you have linked a Facebook account to your ShortStack account, but wish to unlink it, you can! you can unlink it by visiting Account > Preferences. REMEMBER – You can only unlink it if there is a username/password (otherwise, the account would be inaccessible).

Removing ShortStack Account Access – If you need to remove access for a user, disconnect their Facebook account (if connected) and change the password (this assumes that the removed user doesn’t have access to the email address configured under your ShortStack account, otherwise you’ll want to change that as well).
