Infographics have been all the rage this year, but as we embark on a new year, a new style of information sharing has recently been introduced– the video infographic.
In a summary of 2011′s social media activity, a video infographic titled The World of Social Media 2011 has spread across the web. The short video reel highlights all the major stats for all social media sites, including Facebook Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram, Youtube LinkedIn and Google+.
Here are some major takeaways from the video:
- Facebook has passed Google as the most visited website on the internet (no surprise)
- There are more Facebook users than motor vehicles (more specifically: 11% of the world’s population has a Facebook account)
- LinkedIn’s user base is 15 times the size of the population of New York
- Twitter users send an average of 1,735 tweets per second
- 35 hours of video is uploaded to Youtube every minute
