Facebook’s built-in chat function just got a fun new feature; have you tried it out yet? If you haven’t, instructions are below.
Similar to when Facebook introduced their tagging functionality, here’s something new Facebook users can get excited about. Instead of using the @ symbol like when tagging, during chatting with a friend on Facebook users can reference a mutual friend or company by using double brackets around a name–this will result in a photo of that person or place’s logo to appear in your Facebook chat session.
Here’s how to do it:
- In Facebook Chat simply put double brackets around the friend’s full name you’d like to reference, ie: [[JaneDoe]]
- Press enter
- Watch as Facebook converts your friend’s name into a picture of their profile photo
***The same applies to company names you’d like to mention.
Here’s to hoping Facebook users will love and use this new chatting feature— I know I will!
