How Social Media Has Made People Less Focused and More Self-Centered

A recently released infographic titled, “How Social Media is Ruining Our Minds,”claims social media has had a profound effect on the human mind. More specifically, such things as multitasking skills, social interactions and even our ability to focus have been dramatically affected by online activity.

The infographic, created by Assisted Living Today, states that ten years ago the average attention span of a person was 12 minutes, now it is a shocking 5 seconds. Overcoming statistics like this question whether social media and technology has affected more than just our minds, but our lives and attitudes as well. However, despite these apparent negative consequences, does social media’s new age offerings forgive these social and physical ramifications?
