Facebook Tests Negetive Sentiment Analysis

According to Mashable and WiseMetrics.com—the blog Mashable linked to—Facebook is testing out a negative sentiment analysis feature for Facebook Pages. But what is sentiment analysis exactly?

Biz Report describes sentiment analysis in a nutshell:

“…it involves the analysis of comments and suggestions left on social media sites such as blogs and social networks. But, instead of analyzing just words, sentiment analysis identifies the Fan or Follower’s attitude towards a brand by using variables such as context, tone, emotion, among others.”

Regarding Facebook, they’re testing negative sentiment analysis through measuring the number of Facebook users that have hidden your post or given it a negative feedback in their news feeds.

The new metric is available in Facebook Insight. However, for those not in Facebook’s “test pool” they will not see the feature.
