Given the insane growth of Instagram, building and hosting an Instagram photo contest to capture some of the attention is a no-brainer.
For one thing, with an Instagram photo contest, you’re not asking your fans to do anything “extra” to participate.
If you don’t have a ShortStack account yet, signing up is easy and free and, once you’re logged in, you can access our Instagram Photo Vote Contest Template. All you have to do is add your logo and design elements to match your brand.
Ready? Let’s get started.
Log in to your ShortStack account and select “Campaigns” from the menu at the top of the page. Click the blue “New” button. When asked “How would you like to start?” click the “Start with a Template” button.
In the search bar, type “Instagram.” When you see the Instagram Photo Contest Template, hover over it and click on “Use this Template.”
The Instagram Photo Contest Template will open in ShortStack’s Campaign Builder.
If you’d like to change the look and feel of the Campaign, open the Style Panel. You can start by changing the Campaign’s theme by clicking on “Change.”
Add your own header image. With the Style Panel open, first, click on the Header Container Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel to reveal that Container’s menu in the Style Panel. Then, in the Style Panel, expand the “General” menu. From here, remove the placeholder image to display a simple background color, or replace the image by clicking on “Open Media Selector.” Upload your own image, or there are a number of stock images to choose from.
Edit the text and logo within the Header Container. Do this by opening and editing the Image and Rich Text Widgets within that container.
Edit the contest’s participation instructions by editing these three Rich Text Widgets labeled Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3.
Edit your Campaign’s Share Widget with some custom Share verbiage and also an image that’s 1200 x 630 pixels in size.
Edit the rules of your contest by editing the Rich Text Widget called “Official Rules.” Write your contest rules. Save and exit. (Learn more about writing rules from our template, here.)
Woohoo! You’re almost done!
Test your Campaign. Find the Preview Controls Panel. Click the “Live Entry Mode” icon to the “On” position (it will be blue instead of gray). This will allow you to interact with your Campaign as your audience will because it will collect your entry into your database, thusly displaying the entry within your Voting Widget.
Fill out the form, select a test photo, select the “I have read” checkbox and click “Submit.”
If you like the way everything works, click “Publish Campaign.” (Don’t worry! You can still make edits after the Campaign has been published.)
That’s it! You’ll see a “Your Campaign is live” message, followed by a link for you to copy and share anywhere you want people to see your campaign.
