Referrals data

The Referrals tab of the Analytics Manager reports how many entries came in through Refer-a-Friend and share links, how many entrants earned referral points, and which platforms the share links were posted on. Data starts on October 22, 2026, so earlier dates show nothing. Reach it by clicking Manage → Analytics, filtering to a campaign and date range, then opening the Referrals tab.

Getting there

From the Home Page, click the Manage dropdown at the top and select Analytics.
Use the Filtering section to select the specific campaign you wish to view.
Adjust the date range to display data for your desired timeframe.
Click on the Referrals tab.

Data boxes

Hover over the ? next to each number for a short description.

Data box	What it counts
Entrants with Referral Points	Entrants who earned Refer-a-Friend bonus points from entries submitted through their referral link.
Entries from Referral Links	Entries submitted through another entrant's referral link that earned that entrant Refer-a-Friend points. An entry through a referral link that didn't earn points isn't counted here.
Entries from Share Links	Entries submitted by visitors who arrived through a share link.

Charts and graphs

Chart	What it shows
Refer-a-Friend Summary	A line graph of 2 daily counts: Entries from Referral Links, and Referring Entries. A referring entry is the original entry that shared its referral link, which someone then used to enter.
Share Links Summary	A line graph of Entries from Share Links per day.
Share Link Entries by Platform	A pie chart of entries from share links, split by where the link was shared, such as Facebook, X, Pinterest or SMS. Manual counts entries through the share link ShortStack provides, shared directly rather than with Facebook or another platform button in the Share Widget.

Click a label in a line graph's legend to hide that line, and click it again to show it.

View the graph in full screen
Print the chart
Download the data as a CSV file

Exporting data

To export your campaign data:

Click the Actions dropdown at the top right.
Select Export PDF.
A PDF will open, then choose the file name and save location.

FAQs

Why is the Referrals tab empty for my campaign?

ShortStack started recording referral data on October 22, 2026, so nothing shows for dates before that. After that date, the tab fills in once people enter through a Refer-a-Friend or share link from your campaign. Check that the date range you've selected starts on or after October 22, 2026.

How is the Referrals tab different from the Shares tab?

The Shares tab counts how often people shared your campaign. The Referrals tab counts the entries that came back in through those links, so you can see which shares turned into entries.

Can I see which entrant referred which entry?

Not on the Referrals tab, which shows totals. To see the referrals behind one entrant's points, open their entry in the Entries Manager. See Verifying referrals.
