Rights Management for Instagram

The Rights Management feature enables you or your brand to obtain permission to use content posted on Instagram easily. This feature streamlines the process by allowing you to request usage rights directly from Instagram users whose content you've tracked using a specific hashtag.

How it works

  1. Track Instagram Posts Using a Hashtag - Use a Feed to monitor posts with a specific hashtag (e.g., #mycutecat).

  2. Identify Content for Marketing Use - When you find a post you’d like to use, you can request permission from the poster.

  3. Send a Request - ShortStack's Rights Management feature comments on the post, asking the user to respond with a hashtag of your choosing.

  4. Rights Granted - If the user replies with the designated hashtag, ShortStack will automatically detect that rights have been granted and update the post's status to "Granted" in its entry details.

Requesting rights

Follow these steps to request rights to an Instagram post:

Step 1: access the Entries Manager

  1. From the Home page, click on Manage to access the dropdown menu.

  2. Select Lists to open the Lists Manager.

  3. Locate the list attached to your Feed and click the number of entries shown in the listing.

  4. This opens the Entries Manager for the selected list.

Step 2: select the post(s) for rights request

Identify the entry (or entries) for which you want to request rights.

Step 3: customize and send the request

  1. Click the Rights button in the top bar.

  2. In the pop-up window, edit the Request Message and set a Unique Hashtag.

  3. Review the number of items for which you are requesting rights.

  4. Click the blue Send Request button.

Step 4: monitor the request status

While the request is pending, the entry will show a Requested status in its details. The entry details will also display the date the request was sent and a copy of the message sent to the user.

Step 5: confirm granted rights

When the user replies to your comment with the designated hashtag, the status of the request changes to Granted, and you’ll see a copy of the user’s response in the entry details.

Step 6: repeat for additional entries

To request rights for other entries, simply repeat the process for each post you’d like to use.
